ROLEX LADY-DATEJUST AND INSPIRING WOMEN: THE AUDACITY OF EXCELLENCE

“A classic timepiece, designed for a lady.” This is how some may describe our Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust. Maybe they’re right. Since the early 20th century, Rolex has designed and crafted watches suited for the wrists of every woman, with the same standard of excellence as all the models that have built its legend. So, if “classic” means always pursuing a higher standard, if it means perpetuating tradition while combining elegance with precision, grace with resistance, beauty with performance… then the Lady-Datejust is, indeed, a classic timepiece designed for a lady.

Graceful Elegance
Rolex is presenting a new gem-set version of its Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust. This watch, crafted from 18 ct yellow gold, showcases the captivating shine of the diamonds that adorn every surface. This new version of the Lady-Datejust is equipped with calibre 2236, a movement at the forefront of watchmaking technology. Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust carries the Superlative Chronometer certification, which ensures excellent performance on the wrist.
Revealing the radiance of Diamonds
Diamonds are forever, and come to us from the very distant past. Formed in the depths of the Earth over more than a billion years, the diamond’s raw beauty is showcased through faceting, which brings out the graceful reflections in the stone.
The gemmologist and the gem-setter work in harmony to reveal the diamond’s radiance. One selects the stones, the other sets them one by one into the dial, bezel, case or bracelet. These incredibly precise motions, passed from one generation to the next, are perfected over the course of many years. They are repeated several hundred times when embellishing the new Lady-Datejust.
The new Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust, set with 1,089 diamonds on the middle case, bezel, dial and President bracelet, is an exceptional watch whose brilliance and sparkle is perfectly suited to a slender wrist. The case of this new Lady-Datejust is set with 158 brilliant-cut diamonds on the case sides and lugs as well as 44 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel. The President bracelet sparkles with a further 596 brilliant-cut diamonds. The dial, paved with 291 diamonds, features elegant 18 ct yellow gold Roman numerals with a black finish

Descendant Of The Datejust
The classic Rolex feminine watch, the Lady-Datejust benefits from all the attributes of the Datejust, the emblematic Rolex watch that has been a byword for style and technical performance ever since its launch in 1945. Women’s version of this date chronometer, the Lady-Datejust appeared in 1957, the elegance of the Datejust in a small 28 mm size perfectly suited to a slender wrist.

The Oyster Case
A paragon of robustness and elegance, the Lady-Datejust’s Oyster case is 28 mm in diameter. Its middle case is crafted from a solid block of 18 ct yellow gold. The case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool that allows only Rolex watchmakers to access the movement. The Twinlock winding crown, fitted with a double waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire and is fitted with a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimum protection for the watch’s movement.

Perpetual Calibre 2236
The new version of the Lady-Datejust is equipped with calibre 2236, a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex that was released in 2014 and has been fitted on this model since 2015. At the forefront of watchmaking technology, this self-winding mechanical movement led to the filing of several patents, and offers outstanding performance in terms of precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, convenience and reliability.
Calibre 2236 is fitted with a Syloxi hairspring, patented and produced by Rolex. This silicon hairspring remains up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks, and its patented geometry ensures the calibre’s regularity in any position. The movement also contains a paramagnetic nickel-phosphorus escape wheel. The oscillator is fitted on the Rolex-designed and -patented high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, increasing the movement’s shock resistance. Calibre 2236 is equipped with a self-winding module via a Perpetual rotor and offers a power reserve of approximately 55 hours.

President Bracelet
The new 18 ct yellow gold version of the Lady-Datejust is fitted with a President bracelet. Created specially for the launch of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date in 1956, the three-piece link President bracelet is still reserved exclusively for the Day-Date range and some versions of the Datejust. The President bracelet on this gem-set version of the Lady-Datejust is bedecked with 596 brilliant-cut diamonds. It includes an elegant concealed folding Crownclasp and ceramic inserts inside the links to enhance its flexibility and longevity. In addition, a concealed attachment system ensures seamless visual continuity between the bracelet and case.

Superlative Certification
Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust is covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015. This designation testifies that every watch leaving the brand’s workshops has successfully undergone a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its own laboratories according to its own criteria. These certification tests apply to the fully assembled watch, after casing the movement, guaranteeing superlative performance on the wrist in terms of precision, power reserve, waterproofness and self-winding. The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer is of the order of −2 /+2 seconds per day – the rate deviation tolerated by the brand for a finished watch is significantly smaller than that accepted by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) for official certification of the movement alone. The Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that comes with every Rolex watch and is coupled with an international five-year guarantee.
