SPEAKE-MARIN OPENWORKED TOURBILLON - TOWARDS A NEW INTERPRETATION OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE

Openworked Tourbillon matt black DLC-coated version and pink gold version.

These two new creations vividly illustrate the quintessential charm of fine watchmaking according to Speake-Marin: the relentless pursuit of an ideal that is both physical and aesthetic, designed to ensure that mechanical movement never deviates from the onward march of time. Enter the two new Openworked Tourbillon models.

Technical brilliance

Speake-Marin continues its Haute Horlogerie feats with the second version of the Openworked Tourbillon. Launched in 2019, this tourbillon with its unique and unusual positioning appears between 1 and 2 o’clock: a true technical accomplishment, a flagship movement and an authentic brand signature.

This concentrated blend of watchmaking genius expressed through a powerful design is now available in two new interpretations: a technical one in matt black DLC-treated titanium; and a precious iteration in pink gold.

Available in 38 and 42 mm sizes, their cases are fitted with a slim matching crown and feature an elegant black openworked dial entirely revealing the SMA05 calibre. It belongs to the SMA* movement family and confirms the incredible expertise of the in-house watchmakers.

*entirely designed, developed and assembled by Speake-Marin

The 72-hour power reserve indicator appears between 7 and 8 o’clock, enhanced by the emblematic presence of the brand name. Taking pride of place just opposite is the flying tourbillon with its brilliantly polished cage, while the bridge shaped like Speake-Marin logo – in a genuine tribute from designer to watchmaker – completes the picture.

The oscillating weight and barrel are also clearly visible, with the latter notably bearing an engraving of the model name: "One&Two Openworked Tourbillon".

The composition is swept over by heart-shaped hands in black or pink gold to match the perfect finish of the dial and inlaid with Super-LumiNova® to ensure optimum legibility.

As if to assert its commitment to sustainable development, the strap is made of rubber and secured by a pin buckle, providing supple and light wearer comfort.

Stylised design

Mechanical creativity meets stylistic creativity. Directly inspired by modern architecture, these timepieces are distinguished by their functionalism and originality. They explore the realms of ultra-miniaturisation, combined with an extremely pared-down design. By merging absolute technicality, boldness and modernity, they are the perfect embodiment of the English style embedded in the the DNA of the House.

Speake-Marin treats this major complication to an impeccably cut and distinctive style. Firstly with an extremely contemporary version in matt black DLC-treated titanium enhanced by a tone-on-tone look that is both understated and minimalist; and secondly with a pink gold variation in which the power of the precious metal creates a striking contrast with the black prevailing on the rest of the watch. These functional and seductive creations stylishly lend themselves to all occasions, housed in the signature Piccadilly case.

Breaking away from the traditional codes of Haute Horlogerie, vertical and geometrical lines structure the dial of the watch, giving it a resolutely contemporary design accentuated by the presence of black that is highlighted by clean-cut bridges and brings new clarity to the watch face. Poetry has made its entry into Speake-Marin fine watchmaking.

Speake-Marin

Speake-Marin, an independent Swiss watchmaker based in Geneva, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2002 by a British watchmaker from London, Peter Speake-Marin, and subsequently handed over in 2012 to Christelle Rosnoblet, an entrepreneur brimming with enthusiasm and ambition, the brand is characterised by a blend of boldness, style and passion. Expressing a sophisticated and modern aesthetic, the timepieces are resolutely strong and accurate ambassadors of fine watchmaking.
